[Character information]
Name: Karkat Vantas
Canon: Homestuck
Canon Point: Post-Act 6, Intermission 5
Age: Seven and a half Alternian solar sweeps; about eighteen in human years.

Appearance: [Sprite] [Realistic]
Trolls are humanoid enough in appearance, with the major differences being the gray skin, the different colored eyes, the horns, and shark-like teeth. Their fingers are more clawed than that of a humans, and speculated to have pointed ears, but it's difficult to tell, the ears generally being covered by their hair. Karkat in particular has very bright eyes, yellow, with small dark pupils, as well as very dark bags under both of them - dude obviously doesn't get enough sleep. His horns are notoriously short and stubby, rounded unlike the generally long and pointed troll horns. He's self-conscious about them :(

Though trolls seem to work on a caste system, based on blood color, Karkat's blood color is BRIGHT-ASS MOTHERFUCKING RED. He conceals it, and gets very agitated when it's mentioned. His hair is generally spiked, messy and floofysticking up in all odd directions. He usually wears the same t-shirt (with the Cancer symbol [♋] on it) and slacks, as trolls do not seem to give two shits about fashion.

Inventory:
Abilities: Karkat doesn't really have any cool powers or anything like that, aw shucks. He does, however, have use of a sylladex, a "hammerspace" sort of inventory system that allows him to carry certain objects within size requirements. Within that sylladex is his strife specibus, or combat system, to which he has sicklekind equipped. He can only really use sickles as a weapon, consequentially. But he's an excellent combatant, decent with a blade and with plenty of training from his game session and fighting the baddies.

History: Karkat @ the MSPA Wiki!

Personality: Picture the most terrible, sarcastic, self-centered, narcissistic, AWFUL person you've met - you know who I mean, that asshole that doesn't really have friends, but he does have acquaintances, because you're kind of afraid that he'll snap one day and kill us all, so you stay on his good side so he doesn't shoot you? Yanno? Yanno? So you've got that person, right? Now kick them in the shins! Get him real loud and opinionated, break his caps lock button, and then throw a bucket of gray paint at 'im. Congratulations! You've gotten something in the neighborhood of a Karkat.

There's not much outwardly REDEEMING about Karkat's personality. He seemingly cares for a whole lot of the number one, and not much of anything else around him. Trolls as a species are a violent, ruthless sort of lot, willing to cull any lesser beings who might cross their paths - they're expected to, they're built to. Karkat is consequentially incredibly ambitious, using any and all opportunities to gain power, despite nearly all other advisory. He's a fighter, strategic, and albeit working as a team is certainly his strength, he still would rather be in a position of leadership, competitively so. Beyond that, he's rather good at telling people what to do.

Good thing none of that's an act, right?!

But, no, it's predominately an act. One could say he puts on all the acts. Beneath that hard shell that Karkat portrays - tries to portray, generally (and loudly and very explicitly) does portray - lies a very scared and haplessly insecure troll. Being born a mutant to a species that would have killed him without a second thought certainly did a number on Karkat's confidence, and as such he's always second-guessing everything he does. Things have gone painfully and severely wrong for him throughout his game session, and he has a tendency to blame a lot of that on himself, obsessively so.

Karkat is an excessively paranoid kind of person, sure that everyone's out to get him, even himself. Matesprit's hanging out excessively with another boy? It's to rile him up. Runs a dangerous code on his computer that causes it to blow up? He convinces himself that he's released a curse that will bring anyone and everyone who crosses his path bad luck. It's a delusion that runs deep, to the point that he's used software in order to bicker with himself at certain points in his own timeline, long bouts of self-hatred that end up in screaming arguments -- future him is an asshole, but at least he's none so stupid and repugnant as past him, even when he's just got done being him.

As a troll, Karkat really is a failure, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing. He tries to be ruthless like his race calls for, but it's just not in his bones. Despite the screeching, angry exterior that he portrays, he really is a warm kind of guy, and cares incredibly deeply for those people he considers his friends and confidants, even those that drive him crazy and piss him off (which is admittedly not a terribly difficult thing to do). Karkat will do most of anything in his power for those he cares about, and remains a terribly loyal person to his friends and loved ones. He's far better at being a decent human being than he is at being a decent troll being.

Just don't tell him I said that.
